Session D2: Financing low-carbon options in cities

In this session agencies providing or being involved in funding and cities will discuss the various mechanisms to fund low-carbon urban development in cities.

ICLEI will set a stage for the concept for Low Emissions Development based on the experience from the Urban LEDS project and other transport related initiatives.

Engaged cities will share their experiences in securing funding to support low-carbon

Envisaged outcomes
Participants will develop their understanding of:

  • How financial institutions will fund low-carbon development in cities
  • How can cities implement local policies that generate revenue for project operations
  • How efficiency of projects be amplified by sharing experiences.
