Troy Pickard

Mayor, City of Joondalup, Global Executive Committee Member

Mayor Pickard has been involved in Local Government since 2001, making significant contributions in two of WA’s largest Local Government Authorities – the City of Stirling, as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, and then the City of Joondalup where he was first elected to the Officer of Mayor in 2006 and then re-elected as Mayor in 2009 for a further four year term.

He has received numerous decorations and awards throughout his career including a Distinguished Service Award from WALGA in 2005 and a 40 Under 40 Award in 2002 and 2007.

After serving as Deputy President of the WA Local Government Association since October 2007, Mayor Pickard was elected as President of the Association in May 2010 and then re-elected as President in March 2012 for a further two year term. He was elected Vice President of the Australian Local Government Association in November 2010 and re-elected Vice President in November 2012 after serving as a board member since October 2007.

In June 2012 Mayor Pickard was appointed to the international organisation ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability Global Executive Board, holding the portfolio of Chairman of the International BiodiverCities Advisory Committee.
